Masters League: Grimgob vs. OverwatchCnC

I have been a reader of the capture and control blog put out by several of the local Pasadena 40k players for a few years (longer then even playing at the local store) and even used their advice when I was building a Space Marine army. They are a bunch of knowledgeable players and when I met them turned out to be a bunch of great guys. One of the most prolific bloggers on the site is John which posts as Overwatch (and OverwatchCnC on Dakka). John is cool guy and we've been wanting to play each other for a while now (just missing each other at several RTTs). Well now with the SoCal Masters League we get our chance and he was running a Grey Knight Paladin list, so lets begin...

Masters League: Grimgob vs. Sharkticon

My third game was against Rob (or Sharkticon on Dakka). A great guy I've had the chance to play twice before and both were fun challenging matches. I always see Rob at the local RTT/GT's, he really knows his 40K, and is very active in the southern California 40K community. We played at the L.A. Battle bunker (which Rob plays at often) which we accidentally played on the Fantasy tables getting us scolded by the manager resulting in Rob having to wear the "Derp" helmet (pictured above) as he should known better. We rolled up Desert/Badlands with dense terrain (25% +1 extra piece). The deployment was Spearhead and the mission was Priorities which was 4 objectives or capture and control (place both and roll at the end of turn 2 to see which one), the secondary was kill points. His bonus points are . Kill the Head +1 - Destroy all enemy HQ choices +1 - One of your HQ choices kills an enemy Independent Character or unit of one multi-wound model by any means.+1 - Destroy all enemy Elites choices +1 - Destroy the enemy’s highest point-cost unit. I rolled my choice and pick Precision Strike +1 - Destroy all enemy Elite Choices +1 - Destroy all enemy Heavy Support Choices
+1 - Destroy all enemy Fast Attack +1 - Destroy an enemy Independent Character or unit of one multi-wound model with Shooting
Lets begin...

Masters League: Grimgob vs. Voodoo

My second League game was against my friend Scott who posts as Voodoo on Dakka. He runs several builds of Grey knights and I was expecting a good match as Scott knows my army pretty well and has been tuning his list for awhile now. We played at my house so It was a ruined Imperial city, we rolled up 25% coverage, and had an interesting mix of canals/buildings/streets. The mission was Liability so it was kill points with the secondary being kill a randomly selected HQ (he rolled Ghaz and I rolled his Tech Marine).  Bonus points for both was Solidarity +1 - None of your units are further than 12" from any other friendly unit, +1 - Have a unit in your deployment zone at the end of the game, +1 - None of your units failed a Morale check during the game, and +1 - All of your Troops units are at half strength or above.  I win the roll to go first so lets begin.

Grimgob's Bloodaxe Blitzkrieg: 2000 points

I want to share my tournament list at 2000 points as it is relevant to my upcoming SoCal Masters League. I have been tuning this list for several years and have not changed it in awhile. It has served me well, I know it backwards and forwards, and it may not work for you but I'm very happy with it. So when ever I referance my 2000 point list you may refer to this post for the list. The list after the jump.

The SoCal Masters League 2012

Grimgob Vs. Southern California

My win loss ratio has been horrible this year and I can't decide if A. I'm not getting enough games in or B. the Ork codex is showing its age. I don't want to believe its B so I joined a 40k league to cram some more games in. Not just any league but Game Empire Pasadena's league with a whole mess of great players and if you get through that gauntlet you get to face whom ever got through the gauntlet down at the San Diego Games Empire who have their own group of highly rated players for 500$. more after the jump.

At the BAO 2012 part 1

I was excited going into this trip as last years event was awesome and with the new mission formats I knew this years BAO was going to be 7 challenging games of 40K in a very competitive environment. I know allot of people didn't like the location but I brought an Ice chest with beer, had a picnic, the place was very green friendly, and I loved it. All the usual suspects/random 40K Internet celebs were there and there were lots of familiar faces all around. The room was full of energy and tingling with anticipation when they released the first pairings. First match up was against Chaos Deamons!

Now we discuss the other Ork troop, Grots. They get all the crap jobs in Ork society for a couple of reasons 1.They're smaller and 2.They're sniveling cowards. In other words they suck but there are a few reasons why they work in almost any Ork army making those little guys awesome!
